(blog challenge) Day 1

Day one of my blog challenge? hmm. sweet. i feel like such a copy cat since i've seen probably 20 of my friends doing this for the past 6 months or so.. but hey... i just hopped on the party bus.

[[a photo of yourself and how your day was. ]]

These pictures weren't today.
The first one is my first day of classes for this semester, and sterling wanted to get a picture of me on my first day of school hahah
.The other... so.. a little intro to this picture. Our kitten, Porsche... LOVES to get into small spaces. whenever we bring home a box from groceries, Costco boxes, or even cereal boxes... she crawls right into them. She also, however... loves bags. Grocery bags especially. Throw them on the ground, and she'll run right into it and curl up in a ball. Her favorite toy is an orange mesh net thing that we bought cantaloups in and we have it hanging from a doorknob and she couldn't be happier. Last week, I bought a small mesh bag of clementine oranges. I empties them into a bowl on the counter and threw the bag onto the floor and Porsche jumps off the couch and runs and crawls in. So I picked it up. hahaha and this is where the picture is from. (:
My day... so far. Well it is only 1pm currently. We woke up at 9am and Sterling went to work out. I don't like cleaning when i'm not alone, so I took the chance to clean up our apartment. Crazy, I know... but there's something about turning on music real loud and cleaning to your own pace. I seem to get distracted easily when other people are around. So currently- i have laundry done and a clean apartment. Sterling is going out working today, so I'm going to stay home and do homework for my classes tomorrow.
Tonight, Sterling's Mom and Ron are coming over to watch Pirates of the Caribbean 1... we found out last week that they had never seen any of the Pirate movies, so we set up a Pirates night to watch the first one.
Should be a blast ;)

Saturday night, Sterling and I went to FastKart Indoor Speedway, where you can race go-kart type things at top speed on an indoor course. they get up to 35-40 mph! I have a bruise on my hip and back from being T-boned a few times by some loser... but it was sure fun drifting at mach speed (kinda) around those corners. (: sure makes you sore!!

We found out this weekend that this summer we will be living in SAN DIEGO..
(said in Ron Burgendy's voice)
haha. I'm really excited to be able to spend the summer in the sunshine by the beach. Never lived there before, so it is going to be a fun experience! We'll be moving out once my finals are over on May 5th.

Thats all for now. ;)

primero semana de la escuela y trabaja

This was the first week of school and work. (in case you gringo's out there can't read espanol... spanish)

I was late registering for classes, so I couldn't get online classes like I wanted. Its probably for the best... my attention span is that of a goldfish... really. I get on the internet and whether I'm just getting confused or I just decide to read all my friends blogs or whatever... I can't focus.
I have to haul my little bootay to the Taylorsville- Redwood campus at 7am for class, sit in one of the front rows, and take notes. I can't have people in front of me to distract me.
Its that bad.
I need to get into a "learn how to not be distracted or ADD class" Maybe that would help. But i'm in only 9 credit hours, tuesdays -thursdays... and bear with me on this one... saturdays.
I have Social Work, Communications, and Humanities.. my humanities class is a 3 hour solid block class on Saturday morning... nothing like waking up for a 3 hour lecture on humans.
But really, I like my classes and I think so far that i love my teachers. I think i'm really going to like my SOcial Work class, after all... i am majoring in social work.
So I started my new job this week as a Home Health Aide. I have only 2 patients that I am visiting, but I set it up that I go to their homes after i have school tuesdays, thursdays and saturdays. So that I can have monday, wednesday, friday to do homework... hmm. that reminds me of something. Whats today? oh yes.... monday. I should be doing homework.

So far: homework is only reading in the textbook.
Sterling thinks i am really weird.. but i love reading textbooks.... highlighting and writing in them are soooo much fun. (: and no, i'm not joking. I also love taking really really organized notes. ahhaha
i'm such a goober.

On thursday we babysat my aunt Terri's kids for a bit, and came home and slept in. Friday night we went on a double date with Tahnee and Brett to Red Robin and a movie at the District... we saw the new movie "the dilemma"... with vince vaughn.. and .... *ahem* Channing Tatum. He's my boyfriend. him and Gerard Butler. Me and Sterling have already agreed upon this. Channing and Gerard are my boyfriends and Jennifer Anniston is his girlfriend... yes, I get 2... it just makes sense that way.
Anyways. Saturday I had my classes and work and Then that night we went on another date night on saturday... to Buca di Beppo.
huge A portions. Bleh
Sunday, we got to go to Church with Sterling's Mom and Ron. Then we made dinner at their place... a yummy Apple Stuffed Chicken recipe. only about 140 calories for the meal... off of AllRecipes.com here is the recipe: (we doubled it)

Ingredients

  • 2 skinless, boneless chicken breasts
  • 1/2 cup chopped apple
  • 2 tablespoons shredded Cheddar cheese
  • 1 tablespoon Italian-style dried bread crumbs
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1/4 cup dry white wine (or white grape juice)
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley, for garnish

Directions

Combine apple, cheese, and bread crumbs. Set aside.

Flatten chicken breasts between sheets of waxed paper to 1/4 inch thickness. Divide apple mixture between chicken breasts, and roll up each breast. Secure with toothpicks.

Melt butter or margarine in a 7 inch skillet over medium heat. Brown stuffed chicken breasts. Add wine and 1/4 cup water. Cover. Simmer for 15 to 20 minutes, or until chicken is no longer pink.

Transfer chicken to a serving platter. Combine 1 tablespoon water and cornstarch; stir into juices in pan. Cook and stir until thickened. Pour gravy over chicken, and garnish with parsley. Serve.

We've had a busy/ very fun weekend... now it's back to the work week filled with studying and getting a little bit more knowledgable.

riding.the.breaks.

if there was something i could say,
i'd write it in the sand 'til the tide came and washed it away
if there was something i could do,
i'm writing this song to remember i can't forget,
writing this song cause i wish that i never left,
writing this song cause it tears me up
...i do love this song.

..a sucker for music..

I really really listen to music lately. not just turn it on for background music. I look up the lyrics on my phone.. i read along.

Lately, I really like listening to Ben Jelen.

I only have about 8 songs on my IPOD of his.. but i really like Come On, Rocks... and today I listened to his song Falling Down. The lyrics don't make too much sense, but its such a pretty song. I was actually at the gym and all I could do was just lay down on the yoga mat and listen to the entire song. . . a few times.
I LOVE IT.
here's a link to the song on YouTube..

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uioS9DUiSCA

and here are the beautiful lyrics. . .
ok so i'm a sap.. I'm a sucker for lyrics.

"Falling Down"

At a stoplight in the middle of the night,
Stuck in first and I wonder if I should stay
The right is history and to my left the choice is right
But this seems a little bit too hard
And all the questions come running through my mind - will I see this another way?
The simple truth is i'm falling, falling down, and I don't want to drag her through the bottom

Then she says,
"Sit in front of me, turn around you'll see, I'm all you'd ever want, all you'd ever need,
Come back into my world, you know I'm always yours"
And she makes so much sense, when she says "don't throw this away"

Its hard to know whats real when it all seems wrong
But I promise you I'll find whats going on
I just need to follow the sun before I'll know if I'll see this another way
The simple truth is I'm falling, falling down, and I don't want to drag you through the bottom

Still you say "Sit in front of me, turn around you'll see, I'm all you'd ever want, all you'd ever need,
Come back into my world, you know I'm still your girl"
And she makes so much sense, when she says "don't throw this away"

Isabell she treads so lightly, floating in her gypsy dresses
Even though her words cut deep I can't deny the truth in them
On the phone she talks a lot and me, I listen hopelessly,
So directionless, I head into oblivion.
And then I decide to give another random memory,
To remind her of the first time we sang out to the sea
Oh isabell, you always understood me,
Please isabell, forgive me now.

...and all the questions come running through my mind - will I see this another way?
The simple truth is I'm falling, falling down, and I don't want to drag you through the bottom,
No I don't want to drag you through the bottom.

amber

i miss this girl..
we've had a lot of good times, and its hard now that i'm not going to school in Rexy anymore.. but i do cherrish the times that she comes to visit... and I do love her.
She has gotten me through a lot of really hard times in the past few years, and I feel like she's always been there for me... giving me advice, whether or not it was the advice I really wanted to hear or not.Regardless. I love her. and i miss her
This is a shout out to my Amber Coffey.

a blast from the car crash past..

So its coming up on two years now from my car accident.

Driving up with my little sister, Morgan, taking her to a David Archuleta concert in Idaho, we somehow got in an accident in Malad, Idaho... (i say somehow because, i don't remember most of it) and we started flipping off the freeway.

We were taken by ambulance to the emergency room, and we were ok. Pretty banged and bruised up...

Here was the aftermath of my poor car.

The back was torn up because apparently we flipped frontways? Anyways- the important part was that we lived.

dun dun dun...

grrrr

So... I said that I hate posting without pictures... but I was quite quite stupid and didn't take ANY pictures on our fun weekend. so... on friday night Tahnee and Brett came and slept over at our house, and the next morning.... we drove up to our cabin with them! We had so much fun. We got up there and immediately went out into the snow.
Tahnee went sledding and tubing for her very first time, and after a few times down the hill- She was brave and loved it. We even took Cody the dog down a few times. It's always nice being able to go sledding at our cabin because the snowmobiles will tow us right back up to the top! Saves quite a bit of energy and time. ;)
BUT Sterling and Brett went snowboarding a little later.... (Sterling's first time)... and they came back up to the cabin hating life... quite sore and hurting. Sterling ate it quite hard and didn't recover too well.
We had a fun day, playing games eating treats and watching movies later that night.
Out of all that fun, and all the new memories with our friends--- i know, i know... not a single picture was taken... dang it to heck.

Pretty soon here.. in a couple weeks - we'll find out where we're moving to this summer for Sterling's summer sales.
la la la..
maybe somewhere cool... maybe not. Either way- its gonna be a rockin summer. A lot of fun people to spend the days with.

Kitty's surgery went great. She came home growling, hissing and totally drugged up... oh and-- totally shaved all over her stomach.
HAHA
poor thing.
she's happy now, and back to normal. crazy... and she seems like she's high... ALL THE TIME.

went to CPK tonight. (california pizza kitchen for all you CPK virgins) prettttty num num.

if anyone knows how to make your blog super cute with awesome backgrounds.. let me know. Everytime I try- It gets all super lame and mixed up.

sorry for no pics in this post. I have to make it up with a few others.

thats all, the end. good night.... almost.

a few random pictures from the past couple weeks.

We seem to have been eating out a lot lately.. Not purposefully... but it just seems like i haven't cooked in a long time, I'm not complaining... but sterling seems to miss it. We wen't out with my grandparents last night to sushi, had dinner with our friends Tahnee and Brett Tuesday at Texas Roadhouse, the night before that was a birthday party for Sterling's Dad, Brittany and Kade, so we had some din-din then, On Sunday,we went to my other grandparent's house for my mama's birthday party dinner, and Friday and Saturday for New Years and Eve... we were up at my cabin again! before that... on the day before new years eve (i think) We were going to go to dinner with our friends Ann and Josh for half off sushi night, but it was so so busy. So we decided to go to Applebees... I was craving my Fiesta Lime Chicken with lots of extra lime. (: And Sterling got his favorite Chicken fingers... My big little kid.

Later that night, while in bed... we heard some scratching on the INSIDE? of our dresser drawer... What the? freaked me out for a sec and then we jumped up and realized our dumb kitty had crawled into the open drawer and behind the shelves. easy to fix, right? just pull out the drawers... wrong.. they didn't come out.
So about 20 minutes later... bribing the cat out with treats.. using a flashlight to even see her... we finally got ahold of her paws and slowly pulled her out.

Here's the little missy... finally...
we had to pull all the clothes out to get her out..
our biggest problem was that she didn't want to come out... she actually liked it back there
needless to say, we keep the drawers shut at all times now.

My beautiful friend Amber Coffey came down to stay the night with us, because we owed her a trip to the airport. (we would have done it anyways!) But the day after our wedding, she took us to the airport at 4am! We loved her for that. She and I enjoyed uploading music to her ipod and making playlists for her.. I loved it a little more than I should have. I never get to just go through ALL of the music we have and pick out all the best ones. I was probably killing her slowly, every song i'd see that I liked, i'd be like "omg this one is amazing! have you heard it? no? listen listen, you'll LOVE IT i swear!" haha that went on for a good hour or two.
music is my boyfriend.

The next morning we hauled the luggage to the car.
before that... we had to go through everything in her bag and take a bunch of stuff out... there was no way her bag was under 50 lbs!
no amber... you don't need 14 pairs of socks for 10 days especially if you're bringing sandals to wear most the time in California...
derk a dur... i love her

Safe flying muh-dear.

Just like the good ol' days. (:

These days I enjoy getting piggy back rides from my husband.
1 big reason is because I got cute new white moccasin type Roxy shoes for Christmas, and I don't like to get them dirty by stepping in the muddy slush.
He's happy to do it.. I think (:

TUESDAY NIGHT:
we got to see our best buddies again (finally)
Tahnee and Brett had been in California since the begining/ middle-ish of December.
NOT OK
we were used to seeing them alllll the time and playing with them
so 2 days ago we had our reunion with them.
we started out by meeting them at their home, and we hung out for a bit and the boys were super hungry. We decided on Texas Roadhouse in Orem. Basically for the 300 calorie each delicious rolls. mmm
It was super fun, and Sterling only sent his steak back once. ;) gotta have it still moo-ing.

We went bowling at Fat Cats after that... the last experience I had with bowling, I didn't even break 40.. I got really really frustrated and said I was never doing it again... I did ok this time! I got 2 spares, and I almost passed 80 points!
Well, Sterling is what you call, AMAZING at bowling. all his spinny tricks and all. he even has his own bowling shoes! pretty sweet.
Here is a pic of our feet... We tried to make a star but we were missing one person. oh well.

Tahnee did really well for being 6 weeks away from having a baby! I don't know how she does it, but she's amazing.

Sterling Did really really good. He was so fast, I could never get a picture that wasn't blurry.

You can tell this one was going to be a gutter ball. lol

Brett and his Speedy skills

Tahnee and I

Our Cute friends. (:

Me and Ster-pie
Sterling and Brett Trying to be HARD CORE.

LATER THAT NIGHT..
we went to The Creamery on Ninth... apparently its a big hit for the BYU kids, but it was my first time experience. Tahnee and I went in and bought cookies n' cream ice cream, bananas and milk... what was our plan?
well.. we went back to their house, and we played a couple card games.. wellll they taught us a new game called FARKLE. Leave it to the Langfords to addict us to new games. First it was Monopoly Deal (which... is my all time favorite game), and this new trend.. Farkle. We love it.
We then... made cookies and cream/ banana milk shakes... twice.
they were just too good to have one. We went through the whole carton of ice cream in about a half hour. mmmmm Tahnee's excuse is pregnancy.. but i have no excuse for that crap!
it was good. thats all.
We watched TAKEN on their Blu-ray player... quite impressive and then left around 12:30-1am!
we love the Langfords.

This morning we had to take Porsche to the Vet so she could get fixed. She'll be there all day until she's not loopy anymore from the drugs. poor kitty.. she didn't look so happy.

I brought her favorite toy.. a Victoria's Secret Dog to be with her. She was really spooked by being there... climbing all over the counters and such.

Thats all for now!

can we just take a second...

and applaud for the new year?

really though. I think its sort of the same feeling for everyone. A new year, for some odd reason, is almost like a re-birth. a fresh start. a new chance.
though, its just another day, of another week, of another month... somehow in someway its a glimmer of hope to start something new or fresh, right?
Even if its been a perfect year, there's always something worth perfecting.

2010:
was amazing.
started out: not so glimmery with not such a fresh outlook on the year.
I had a horrible new year/ new years eve last year... and to be quite honest, i wasn't quite sure how my year was going to go. I learned a lot of things.

I learned that no matter how hard you try to force yourself to believe one thing, chances are... its still not going to become a reality. Life, i think, is better to take it at face value... what it is, for what its worth.
I've learned that i absolutely love the Discovery Channel, National Geographic and the History channel... and the world would be a better place if everyone watched and/ or read what they had to say.
I've learned heartbreak, as well as the greatest amount of love... all within the same moments. .
I've learned how to smile in the face of adversity... and move on.
I've learned that "Just keep swimming, just keep swimming" Is QUITE applicable to life.
I've learned that wedding planning is... um... ... yeah.
I've learned that sometimes it takes hurting someone to show them that you truly care and want the very best for them... Writing someone off might be the biggest hurt at the moment but the best thing in the world in the long run.
I've learned that the ability to be happy is nothing more than learning to come to terms with how things change.
I've learned that I'm still learning how to cook.
I've learned how to be a best friend... and a wife. how to love... unconditionally.
I've learned who my friends are.
I've learned that adversity really does build character.
i've learned that there is absolutely no point in holding grudges. letting them go is hard, but the most rewarding outcome.
The most important things in life aren't things.

This year has been BY FAR (up to this point) the best year in my life. It has been the most 180 degree turn from 12 months ago, today.... in THE absolute best way possible.
I've been on every stage of the happy/ sad scale and ended up in the happiest state of my life.
I couldn't have asked for a better outcome to 2010, and i would have never even known this was an option for me! There are a million and ten things that i have learned in 365 days, and every one of them has had a life altering lesson for me.
The biggest thing I learned how to do was to listen to my heart, as well as my conscience. (as corny as it sounds) its absolutely true. Because of that one little thing... I get to fall asleep, and wake up next to my best friend for the rest of forever.
I can't wait to see what 2011 brings!

Happy New Year, Everyone!
